MyLineas, the first real-time train and wagon tracking application, presented at the Transport & Logistic trade fair in Munich

Munich, 11 May 2023 - MyLineas, a unique and innovative application that allows Lineas customers to track their trains and wagons in real time, was unveiled this morning to the press and general public by Frank Berweger, CCO of the rail operator.

Lineas, one of Europe's leading private rail freight players, operates as a railway company with intermodal and conventional activities. It is headquartered in Belgium but is a truly multinational company, operating in Western and Central Europe and with the capacity to operate internationally. It serves many large industrial players including Aperam, Arcelor Mittal, BASF, MSC, Ineos, Novelis, Volvo, Tesla, etc. and has very close links with the main North Sea ports: Antwerp, Ghent, Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.

In order to best serve its many customers in a large and complex market, it has developed a unique and innovative application that allows them to track their trains and wagons. This self-service platform, called MyLineas, offers a real-time, forward- and backward-looking view of the loads carried for its block train customers.

In addition to a view of the schedule, MyLineas also offers the possibility of making reservations, additional requests, and cancellations. Consignment notes can also be created directly from the platform.

This track & trace system also informs customers of all important events, deviations, the originally planned arrival time but also corrected arrival times, due to construction work or accidents, for example. All this information is available to Lineas customers by email and will be soon in the application itself and via EDI1.

Mark Geuens, CIO of Lineas : “By collecting and aggregating data from Lineas’ partners, infrastructure managers and GPS devices on wagons, customers are provided with a complete visualization of their transports end-to-end, which is a unique feature of the platform.

At this stage, 20 companies have already been granted access to the MyLineas platform. Open Conventional and Single Wagon Load will be integrated in the coming months.

Frank Berweger, COO of Lineas: "We have chosen to be uncompromisingly customer-centric. MyLineas is an innovative digital twin of a philosophy that we live out on a daily basis at all levels of the company and especially in the field.”

In parallel with this digital tool, a program of personal follow-up of Lineas' main customers’ requirements by members of the C-level management committee -a program called Godparent- was recently launched. Both have had a remarkably positive effect on the level of satisfaction of Lineas' customers, some of whom have achieved scores of 5/5.

1 Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the electronic interchange of business information using a standardized format; a process which allows one company to send information to another company electronically rather than with paper.
