Lineas selected as prefered Railway Undertaking for area 1 (Ghent) in North Sea Port Bundling Tender
Brussels, September 25 – Lineas, Europe’s largest private rail freight operator, was selected as preferred Railway Undertaking (RU) after the North Sea Port Bundling Tender for 2026-2027, thanks to it’s expertise and strong collaboration with industrial partners. By operating in Area 1 (Ghent) at North Sea Port Lineas ensures the continuation of it’s SWL Antwerp–Ghent shuttle and Last Mile services in Ghent.

This win demonstrates the trust North Sea Port places in Lineas’ ability to deliver reliable, flexible, and sustainable rail logistics solutions. By continuing to operate both the long-haul Antwerp–Ghent connection and the last mile distribution in Ghent, Lineas offers customers seamless end-to-end service and strengthens the bundling network that underpins efficient rail freight in Belgium.
This success underlines Lineas’ role as a long-term logistics partner for key industrial players. Customers benefit from:
- Reliability and continuity: guaranteed shuttle and last-mile operations between Antwerp and Ghent.
- Efficiency and flexibility: optimized connections that allow customers to adapt transport capacity to their needs.
- Sustainability: strengthening rail freight as a greener alternative to road transport, helping customers meet their climate ambitions.
“We are delighted with this recognition of our services,” said Luc Pirenne, CCO at Lineas. “The extension of our cooperation with North Sea Port shows the confidence customers place in our operations and expertise and underlines our mission to drive modal shift through reliable, efficient, and sustainable rail solutions.”
Lineas looks forward to continuing this successful collaboration as from 01 January 2026.
