Lineas improves EcoVadis score, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability
Brussels, March 6, 2025 - Lineas, Europe's largest private rail freight operator, has significantly improved its EcoVadis sustainability score, reflecting its ongoing commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) excellence. The company's overall score increased by 10 points in 2024, reaching 51, and improving its benchmark ranking by 14 positions.

EcoVadis is a globally recognized sustainability ratings platform that assesses companies’ sustainability management and performance across four key areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment allows customers to evaluate their suppliers and request improvements where necessary. Lineas’ progress highlights its dedication to transparency and continuous improvement in these critical areas.
“For 2025, our target is to achieve a score of 55,” said Christine Vanoppen, Head of Sustainability at Lineas. “This progress reflects the efforts of our entire team. Many of the sustainable initiatives we implement already have a significant impact —it is often a matter of documenting these efforts effectively to demonstrate our progress to EcoVadis auditors and our stakeholders.”
The improved score strengthens Lineas’ position among sustainability leaders in the logistics sector, which is increasingly under scrutiny by industries such as Chemicals, where clients demand strong ESG credentials from their partners. Beyond the score increase, Lineas has also been awarded the ‘Committed’ badge, reinforcing its proactive approach to sustainability. The company’s next milestone is achieving the Bronze Medal status, which would require a further step up in its ranking.
Anne Grandjean, Reputation Director, emphasized the strategic importance of this achievement: “Sustainability is at the core of our mission at Lineas. Rail freight is an essential solution for reducing CO2 emissions in logistics, and our improved EcoVadis score underscores our role in driving a greener supply chain.”
As part of its broader sustainability strategy, Lineas has also received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its ambitious climate targets, reinforcing its role as a leader in decarbonizing freight transport.
With its clear sustainability roadmap and ongoing improvements, Lineas is positioning itself as the partner of choice for companies seeking responsible and efficient transport solutions.
